Blue Buffalo and Blue Wilderness Dog Foods have been represented in their marketing as whole food, holistic, natural, healthy choices, but have instead been found to contain lead and are the subject of a class action lawsuit. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approves bottled water that has 5 parts per billion (ppb) lead levels, so it is interesting to find out that the Blue Buffalo and Blue Wilderness foods have been measured 195 to 835 more than that 5 ppb standard! Blue Wilderness Chicken Recipe for Small Breed Adult Dogs contains 200 ppb; Blue Freedom Grain-Free Chicken Recipe contains 140 ppb; and Blue Basics Grain-Free Turkey & Potato Recipe for Adult Dogs contains 840 ppb!
The sliver of good news in this saga is that there is therapy available involving a liver detox for dogs contaminated with the lead from these products. The bad news is that this can be very expensive, time-consuming, and hard on your beloved pet with treatment ranging from simple supportive care to dog hospitalization with intravenous fluids being the detoxing agent. There are also holistic therapies that can be used to detox the liver in the form of diets of green leafy vegetables, bentonite clay, buffered vitamin C, milk thistle, antioxidants, and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC). It would be wise for consumers of the subject dog foods to stop their use and consult their veterinarian. Dr. Carol Osborne of Chagrin Falls Pet Clinic states that signs that your dog may already be experiencing lead toxicity include symptoms like loss of appetite, jaw chomping, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, behavioral changes, anxiety, circling behavior, lack of coordination, seizures, muscle spasms, and blindness.
Inserra Kelley Sewell, Personal Injury Attorneys, strives to keep its readership aware of potential dangers to themselves and their loved ones in a world full of product dangers and recalls. In this case the danger and health crisis could come to the beloved furry member of your family. If your dog has elevated toxin levels in their blood, and has been a consumer of the Blue Buffalo or Blue Wilderness dog foods, do not hesitate to contact this firm for advice on possible avenues to compensation.

I am very angry and concerned about my dogs. Will there be an update on this lawsuit. My newest dog has only been on this brand sense she was a puppy
I just saw these articles…my dog got sick..i was wondering if new bag was tainted but she has been on thus food for 1.5 years. She has always had loose stools and I wonder if it is the food. I know certain foods affect ones body differently but to read all about the lead content pissed me off. We were in process of switching foods but I hear you can’t do it all at once but if food is bad we will have to
I lost my dog in July 2017. He was a healthy Westie he was 12. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in May. One month later we had no idea how or why he got this. Now I know: I fed him blue buffalo life protection senior for small dogs, and blue buffalo freedom senior. How do I file a lawsuit. What do I do.
I have a 6 pound, 6 year old Papillion / Maltese mix and a 20 pound 5 year old Australian Cattle Dog / Pomeranian mix that have been eating the Blue Wilderness Chicken Recipe for Small Breed Adult Dogs nearly their entire life. We have not see any of the symptoms listed in this article. I called our Vet and a Blood Test for this is $180.00 per/dog. If the are not showing any visible signs, is it recommended that they get this blood test done? Other than discontinuing feeding them Blue Buffalo, is there anything else that I can do for them. Any Opinions or comments will be appreciated.
My Pug has been on Blue Bufalo for about 8 years. In the past couple of years he has had a struck, has been slowly going blind and has loss of hearing. He is 14 years old and I would expect some of this but after reading this I beginning to wonder if the dog food didn’t contribute to some if not all of these problems.
I have a 16 month german sheppard and a 4 yr.german sheppard. They have both been on the BLUE BUFFALO FOR LARGE DOGS FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS.I HAVE NOTICED MY YOUNGER DOG HAS DIARRHEA ALL THE TIME.COULD THIS BLUE BULLSHIT BE MAKING MY DOG SICK???I AM VERY PISSED.NOT ANGRY!!
Pamela,
It could be the source of the problem, why not try another food?
I have a 8yr old bouvier that has eaten blue all of her life, went blind at 5 years old for no known reason and jaw chomps. Could this be the food? What do I do!
