Pet owners concerned about whether or not their dog may have contracted COVID-19 can now get answers. Assuming you have a logical reason to back up your claim, call your veterinarian and ask for your dog to be tested.
The COVID-19 Pet Test request must be submitted by your veterinarian and the rationale for the test must be included. The request will be sent to the state animal health control officer and the state veterinarian for approval. Each case will be evaluated on an individual basis. Should your pet have a positive test, these state officials will be notified first. Your veterinarian will be contacted, who will then advise each pet owner of the situation.
At this time a Coronavirus Vaccine does not exist for Pets or People.
Although there are other species of coronaviruses many puppies are vaccinated for, it does not provide coverage for COVID-19.
