A pet owner came home to the heartwarming sight of her Pitbull nursing the family’s newest arrival – a sweet little rescue kitten. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it over and over again. Never judge a dog by its breed. Because with the proper training and care, any dog – and we mean ANY dog – can grow up to be a giant love bug.
And that’s certainly the case with the Pittie. Despite the negative stereotypes around the breed, Pitbulls can be the sweetest and most loving dogs ever. Here’s more proof.
No bad dogs, just bad owners
Pitbull owner Lisa Ruffin, who goes by mz_blaze1169 on TikTok, shared an adorable clip of her rescue kitten Gizmo suckling on her Pitbull, Demi.
Demi’s “husband,” another Pitbull called Drippy, watches on from nearby. If you’ve ever wondered what a confused Pittie looks like, then this is it. Some viewers have suggested Drippy is demanding a paternity test.
Demi doesn’t seem to care that she’s got a completely different species attached to one of her teats. Instead, she’s just happy to share the love. More than 3 million people have watched the clip.
“A Pitbull with her kitty!” posted one person. “The CUTEST! What a good mama, even if she’s an adoptive one, lol.”
“That cat is going to be tough. Raised on pit bull milk,” reads another comment.
Maybe. Then again, the kitten will probably grow up to be a big softie, just like her “mum.”
The love is real
It’s not unusual for kittens to bond with dogs or see them as their primary caregiver. But according to experts, they are unlikely to mistake a dog or a human for their biological mother.
“Kittens do not mistake other animals for their [biological] mother,” says veterinarian and cat behaviourist Carol Osborne. “But the connection they make with dogs and us is real. Should their parent not be present, kittens will form strong emotional bonds with another animal or person from whom they receive affection and love.”
