- Use common sense if you can’t pronounce it you should be feeding it to your dog. Dogs are 99% identical to humans so they can eat almost an identical diet to our own. Carbs, protein, and vegetables.
- Look for whole complete nutrition, the commercial raw diets are some of the best diets out now. As they contain a higher percentage of whole real food. They are NOT over processed like dog kibble. Note: dog kibble is any dry dog food. Good raw diets we like are Sojos, and Stella and Chewy’s for example.
- The grain free misconception, there is NO such thing as grain free dog food. When you see a grain free dog food it is really just being replaced with a pea or potato starch. Making dog kibble is like baking a cake you have to have a binder so that is why ALL dry dog foods have a starch component.
- Cheap dog foods do not help you down the road if anything they will cost you more money at the vet sooner or later. Remember you are what you eat we both 2 and 4 legged. Your nutrition is the single most important thing for your health.
- We discourage age and breed specific foods, look for foods that have a single line, like the Fromm Four Star for example. Age and breed specific foods are very outdated. Again remember food is food. It’s really that simple.
- Don’t be afraid to cook for your dog. A balanced whole diet is wonderful!
