Tell us what your business does: The center is the only one of its kind in Northeast Ohio, offering an integrated approach to pet health and wellness for several reasons.
First, clients who recognize that both conventional and alternative medicine can play an important role in the treatment of both sick and well animals are no longer forced to choose between one versus the other.

Next, Dr. Osborne has a history of “leading the pack” by offering what we call “high-tech holistic” treatments.
Many of the pets who come to Chagrin Falls Pet Clinic are seriously ill. They often don’t have months to experiment with simple herbal and homeopathic remedies.
Using very intense, hands-on treatments and newly-emerging non-toxic therapies, we are holistically aggressive in seeking health for your pets.
Finally, at Chagrin Falls Pet Clinic, pets are given the best veterinary care available because Dr. Osborne understands how to bring together the most effective tools from both worlds. The clinic offers a combination of science-based medical care, plant-based homeopathy remedies and natural food nutrition.
We were brought up and conditioned to buy commercial pet food without bothering to look at the ingredients or think about whether that’s the best thing for our pets.
It seems that just like their human owners, processed foods may not be the best answer for some animals.

Where did you get the idea for your business? After Dr. Osborne realized the gap in traditional medicine, she pledged to continue her education so she could help her clients that did not fall into the realms of traditional veterinary medicine. She was able to develop her edcation to include the methods of integrative medicine. So that means that Dr. Osborne practices out of two black bags, so to speak –one, of traditional medicine, and one of holistic medicine.

The results we have seen in our practice in only nine months have been remarkable. We were able to work with an injured K-9 unit dog from Middlefield. The dog was unable to walk without dragging its hind legs, and could not run or stand for long periods of time. After one month, from using a vitamin supplement that Dr. Osborne makes, as well as a home cooked diet, the dog has lost 20 pounds and is now running and jumping back on the bed. The family refers to their dog as a miracle.

We put the pet’s best interest first. Our only goal is to help people enjoy their pets for the longest, healthiest time that is available to that pet. We find, in this practice, that is the key. Food is medicine, for everything starts with food. This is also why our vet clinic is so unique. Many vets do not practice in such a way.

What makes your business unique? Chagrin Falls Pet Clinic is a new, state-of-the-art veterinary clinic for dogs and cats in Chagrin Falls. Renowned veterinarian and author, Dr. Carol Osborne, D.V.M. is the founder and director. The Clinic is run exclusively run by Dr. Osborne and her daughter, Halle Shanker. We are the only clinic to offer 100 percent personalized care for both people and their pets.

Dr. Osborne offers traditional veterinary care for dogs and cats with a softer, natural touch. In addition to traditional treatments, Dr. Osborne highlights the importance of nutrition and diet specifically for each patient. Dr. Osborne believes that supporting the pet’s entire body by addressing natural nutrition, and supplementing with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals when needed, helps to boost the body’s natural defenses, thereby stimulating internal immunity, speeding-up the healing process, and restoring homeostasis.

How do you see current economic conditions affecting your business? People who come to our clinic are either not concerned about the cost or are entirely focused on the cost. The great thing about our clinic is that because it is a mother-daughter team, we have a very low overhead, and are able to offer services at the most competitive prices, which are lower than almost every vet clinic in the area. The service one receives, however, is not comparable.

What is the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome thus far? Reaching out to the public has been the hardest obstacle. Right now we have people driving to us from all across Cleveland, such as North Park, Olmsted Falls, Mentor, Hudson, and Chagrin Falls. People are finding us based upon our integrative methods and are having wonderful results! We even have before and after pictures that show the changes people see in their dogs over as little as a few weeks!

What are your plans for near-future growth (hiring, building expansion, etc.)? We plan to open our doors to as many people and their pets as possible. We are excited to grow our business, and Halle, Dr. Osborne’s daughter, will take over the business after veterinary school. So it will always remain a family affair.
