Queen of England Suffers Loss of Royal Canines

Queen Elizabeth II, always known for her love of dogs, lost two of her canine companions this week. Monty, a 13 year old Welsh corgi and the queen’s favorite, passed at the royal’s Scottish family estate in Balmoral over the weekend. Cider, technically referred to as a “dorgi” or a cross between a dachshund and a corgi also died recently and will be buried along with Monty at the Balmoral pet cemetery.

Monty had become somewhat of a star following his cheeky stint on a James Bond video that aired at the London Olympics in July, following a nasty scuffle with Max, a Norfolk terrier owned by Princess Beatrice, the queen’s granddaughter.

Formerly owned by the queen’s mom, Monty, interestingly enough was named after the American horse whisperer, Monty Roberts, who offered the queen advice not only on her royal canines but also on her beloved horses.

Funeral arrangements remain private but one can rest assured that these two canines will be royally remembered.
